Whatever you play, from Farm Frenzy
to Dota to GTA, you're a gamer. It makes no difference if you
play on a smartphone, a computer, or a console like PlayStation or Xbox. There
are plenty of gamers out there, and most invest a fair amount in their hobby,
making them juicy targets for cybercriminals. To understand where and how they
might try to ensnare you, you need to know the basics of cybersecurity.

The last thing you want is to have it stolen and sold to a newcomer who's too
lazy to pimp their own. That would be a major slap in the face.
Or how about a player you know offers you some rare equipment at a nice price. Again, you'd be hopping mad if you paid up and received nothing. The nerve of it! But their account might have been hacked and used to make such offers to everyone in their
contact list. Your (probably virtual) acquaintance is only to blame for not protecting his account properly.
let's say you decide to download an add-on or mod from some site you found on
Google. How do you know that the files contain only the mod itself? There could
just as easily be malware. It might be a cryptocurrency miner that consumes all
your computer's resources and soon makes it impossible to play. Or it might
steal your bank card details when purchasing in-game items. Either way, it
MMOs and other multiplayer games involve chat and/or voice communication.
Cussing in the heat of battle is only part of the trouble. More seriously, offensive remarks can become personal and turn into bullying, which can not only spoil the game, but have real-life consequences.
